Maldivian Association of Persons with Disabilities (MAPD) was established in 2013 under Ministry of Home Affairs with the objectives of protecting the rights of people with disabilities and empowering them to become productive citizens. Additionally, MAPD advocates for equal opportunities in education, health, employment, accessibility, disability sports and training for them. Similarly, MAPD also works in collaboration with government institutions and NGOs to empower and build the capacity of the youth community with disabilities by providing them the means of achieving technical skills which can be used to integrate themselves into an inclusive environment, thereby producing skilled youth with disablities.
